Pet Photography Tips

Dec 29, 2022

Here are some tips for taking great photographs of pets:

  1. Get down to their level: Instead of shooting from above, try getting down to your pet's level for a more intimate and engaging perspective. This will also help to make them feel more comfortable and at ease.
  2. Use natural light: If possible, try to photograph your pet in natural light, rather than using flash. Natural light will help to bring out the natural colors and textures of your pet's fur.
  3. Use a wide aperture: A wide aperture (low f-stop number) will help to blur the background of your photos, making your pet stand out. This is especially useful when shooting outdoor pet photos, as it helps to create a more natural and relaxed atmosphere.
  4. Capture their personality: Try to capture your pet's unique personality in your photographs. This might mean waiting for them to do something funny or playful, or simply capturing them as they go about their day.
  5. Use treats or toys to get their attention: If your pet is not looking directly at the camera, try using treats or toys to get their attention. Just be sure to keep the treats out of the frame to avoid distractions.
  6. Have patience: Photography can be a bit of a waiting game, especially when it comes to pets. Be patient and wait for the right moment to capture that perfect shot.

With pets make sure to take lots of photos, you will have plenty of time in post to select the right shot
